"Centenary House"
The new Church and Community Centre
As readers will know, we are almost at the point where the vision that started in April 2005 will become a reality! The contractors, JH Payne and Sons Ltd and their staff, and the other firms that have dealt with other facets of the refurbishment, have done an excellent job and totally transformed the building. We are most grateful to all who have worked and donated to the project.
On Thursday November 1st (All Saints Day) we are to have an informal Open Day when the Centre will be open from 10am to 8pm. All again are most welcome (we particularly have in mind our neighbours, possible future users, charities etc) and if you are able to help with stewarding and light refreshments please do let the stewards know.
Last month we gave details of some of the donors and we are hoping that they will all be present on the Saturday. We have ordered 50 chairs for the Centre and so far 19 have been sponsored at £40 each. If you would like to make a donation (perhaps in memory of a friend?) then do please let us know - the Gift Aid scheme is applicable for tax payers. We are also planning a couple of work parties to deal with the gardens and we need all the help we can get so please do try to come along - two dates so far Saturdays the 6th and 20th October starting at 9am. Please bring you own tools - we also need a coffee maker if possible!!
Our main appeal target of £25,000 has nearly been reached and again we are most grateful to you all. An ongoing Management Group is in course of being appointed to be responsible for the running of the Centre. The Circuit is to appoint an Administrative Assistant to work for 10 hours a week and based in the Centre, and part of their role will be to give support for the administrative work of the circuit (not Christchurch).
We are really looking forward to this exciting venture coming to fruition and hope to see you all at the opening events. It should be a great time - and to God be the glory!
